Torn
So last Sunday we headed down to SV to hang with the family and Ralph on father's day. It was delightful, as always and we even had a lovely chat with Brent. Ryley got to spend her first Grandma/Ryley sleepover and was really excited to have Grandma all to herself. As the week progressed I had this inner struggle of whether or not I was missing my Ryley. The house was so quiet and I was able to sleep past 5:45am. She was having a fabulous time swimming and painting. Hanging with her uncles and Aunt, so I came to the conclusion that I would just enjoy my break and not feel guilty about the fact that I was not missing her all that much. As a good friend stated, I have her for many more years to come so it's okay not to miss her just yet. Ben, the poor boy, was bored out of his mind with out his playmate so it was enjoyable to spend some quality time with him. Thursday came and Ryley was home. It was nice to have her home and things got back to normal the next day(waking up at 5:45am, even though she slept till 7am at Grandma's). Our house isn't the same without her and we are so grateful that she is ours! Thanks Grandma for the break, Ryley hasn't stopped talking about her week and when she gets to come again.

Hey, Katie, it's ok. Mom's need a break every once in a while, and yeah, it's ok. You get to relax and spend time with your other kids, and when Ryley gets back, like you said, you're reminded of how much you love the little firecracker.
I always feel bad when Heidi is gone and life is so much easier around here. It's almost like Addie and James cancel eachother out--it's almost like having NO kids when Heidi is gone. But at the same time, things are so much more hilarious when she's around. I just have to tell myself it won't be so physically exhausting forever--emotionally, maybe, but alt least I will be able to SLEEP IT OFF when sh'e not three (or 4 or 5) anymore! :) Yay for sassy girls! (and dates with Grandma--I heard first hand that Grandma had just as much fun as Ryley, and she wore out her uncles!)
