The other day we had gotten home a little late from running errands, the kids were a little crazy and hungry, so I told Ryley to turn on some cartoons while I whip something up for dinner. The only cartoon that could be found happened to be Family Guy. I find this show completely inappropriate for children, not to mention myself.
I can't even remember what the show was talking about I just remember it was crude. Kevin and I frantically search for the remote (our television's power button is broke) to turn the TV off but it can't be found anywhere. I explain to the kids that we need to find the remote so we can change the channel because this show is not okay. They whine because they want to keep watching the 'cartoon', and I bribe with a surprise for who ever can find the remote. In the mean time I changed the channel with the button on the TV. Then Ryley proceeds to pull the remote out from under her shirt and laughs saying, "Here it is mom, what is my surprise!" I obviously forgot that I had asked her to turn the TV on in the first place. Kevin and I looked at each other in both frustration and amazement. What will this child be like at the age of sixteen! Trying not to laugh at the whole thing, we sent Ryley to sit in the naughty chair, shaking our heads, knowing that we are in for it with this one.

Nice! Reminds me of a time in college when I couldn't find my wallet. I'd been looking for almost a week. One day this guy was over and he asked me if I would kiss him if he found the wallet. I thought there was no way he would find it so I said, "yeah, sure". He walks right into my room and pulls off my mattress and there was my wallet. What a creep. I did not kiss him.
You guys are totally in for it with Ryley. She's way too smart for her own good.
Sounds like you have a closet Family Guy fan. At least it isn't South Park.
What else is new, stranger? What are you doing for dinner next...Tuesday?
Oh, man. I'm trying to wrap my mind around a 16-year-old Ryley, and I'll be honest, it's kinda fun. In my 32 years, I don't know if I've ever met anyone like her, which is a compliment. She's pretty amazing.
I totally identify with the head shaking, by the way. How is this even possible with a five-year-old?
That is a pretty funny story! Kids are ingenious. They've got to try to figure ways to get around and we have to teach them the right thing. What a job we have!
Oh Katie! Just think of all the stories that are to come in the next few years! Just wait ubtil she starts kindergarten...you'll be updating your blog daily!
Kate-I need your help! I'm going private in about 3 weeks and like the way you researched and went through with it. Call me and let me know! Thanks, Dawn
Katie, OF COURSE I remember you my dear girl! You took on my 1st ever trip to Walmart! Girls never forget stuff like that. I was meaning to ask AJ if she had a contact for you.
