A Trip to AZ and MEXICO!

When we first told the kids that we would be moving to Texas one of the things they asked was if we'd still get to go to Mexico. I knew Kev totally wouldn't be able to go with his school schedule but figured what the heck, and told them of course. Then we moved, then I found out I was pregnant and then I realized that the 15 hour drive back to Arizona was pretty much going to suck, especially since it was going to be just me and the three kids. Needless to say we made it and all three kids are still alive to talk about it. They did really well for being stuck in the car for so long. We definitely couldn't have done it without the portable DVD player. It was a true lifesaver.

On the way to AZ we stayed the night in El Paso and then the next day drove to Phoenix. We stayed with my best friend, Amy, for a couple days before Mexico and had a fabulous time. We picked up Uncle Brent (Kev's brother) who hung out all weekend and helped with the kids and then accompanied us to Mexico.

Olivia kicking it with Uncle Brent

Brent buried Ben and he thought it was hilarious

Ryley drew a heart in the sand for her Dad, she kind of likes him

We also got to meet up with Ben and Caitlin and my mom and grandma came down. It was a weekend packed full of fun and it was so fabulous to get to see friends and family.

We went to Caitlin's Aunts for conferance on Sunday and had a blast

We headed to Mexico early Monday morning and stayed all week. The kids absolutely loved it. Olivia was old enough this year to actually enjoy the beach. They hung out with their cousins and our friends the Thornhill's and didn't want to leave. We cruised back to SV Friday, stopped to see Grandpa and Grandma Elrey and took Saturday off to rest. Ryley weaseled a horse ride out of Grandpa Ralph and of course got to help in the garden and get eggs from the chickens. We left early Sunday morning to head for Texas. The kids were definitely done riding in the car but I tied them over with some new movies. We were going to stop in Ft. Stockton (5 hours outside of San Antonio) but I was still on AZ time so I just cruised on home. The kids were asleep and I figured I might as well go for it. I pulled in about 2 am Texas time and was so excited to be home. Vacation with out your husband isn't all that great. I really missed having him around and not just for the help. It was so good to see our friends and family though and I think the kids needed it. Needless to say I will not make that trip by myself again.

wow, you are as crazy as I am. I love the vacations with out Tom (sorry) but that means that I can go and do whatever I want and I only have to please the kiddos. Glad you had a great time, and that you made it home safely!
